"Dear Mr. Fontana" is an homage to the Argentine/Italian painter and sculptor Lucio Fontana (1899-1968) and his famous thesis "Concetto spaziale, where cuts and punctures in usually monochrome surfaces transform the canvas into a three-dimensional sculpture, deliberately challenging the tradition of painting. My homage is a reflection on the fiery confrontation with "the existing that took place in the post-war years and the 1960s. A confrontation that in many ways forms the basis for much of modern Western culture. At the same time, my homage also reflects an admiration for, and maybe even a longing for, a time when the world could be shifted and altered with few and simple means. In its metal design, the table is part interpretation, part manifestation of Lucio Fontana's thoughts and visions of modernity.
