FURNITURE FOR WHEN YOU ARE OLD

SOUP FOR TWO

DESIGN: MOGENS TOFT
During the renovation of an old house, a long dining table, from when the property had been a poorhouse, was found. The table had a unique design. The rustic tabletop featured 16 carved-out hollows. Fortunately, the local historical archives held the explanation. When the paupers were fed, soup or gruel was squirted into the hollows with a piping bag.

That’s how the story goes. The table is now reborn for the modern retirement home in a sort of neo-rococo style
