A cabinet is a closed object that embraces an empty space. The basic assumption is that a cupboard is for use. Its four walls delineate an empty space. The cabinet's user is responsible for its basic function. A cabinet without empty space becomes simply a passive storage unit. Only if there is spare space does it become an active and useful piece of furniture.
EMPTY SPACE = TRANQUILITY
My cupboard is made from lime wood, I have perforated it to underline the importance of empty space inside. The perforation also makes it semi-transparent and acclimatised. The design lets the tree live as a material, with all its parallel fibres.
