The chair is of maple, with cotton webbing.

Originally designed for the Knoll Group, USA, in 1941. Th aim was to create a simple design, as the chair was to be manufactured by small carpentry compagnies all over USA as an element in wartime production. The chair was used in military centeens nationwide.

The chair, unchanged, returned to the Knoll Group's range in 1996.
